ndochine_Premium_Luxury_Cruise_Ha_Long_Bay
They say Halong Bay was carved by a dragon who plunged into the sea, thrashing his tail until limestone mountains rose from the water. When you stand on the sundeck of Indochine Premium at dawn, with mist curling around 1,600 jagged islands, you will believe it. This is not a cruise. This is a floating art gallery, a five‑star sanctuary, and a love letter to Vietnamese craftsmanship. Indochine Premium – winner of “Best Luxury Cruise Line in Vietnam” and “Luxury Art Cruises 2025” – carries only 37 cabins, each with a private balcony. A double sundeck larger than most football fields. A piano lounge where melodies drift across the bay. And a crew whose hands have steered these waters for thirty years. Choose your chapter: two days or three. Both will leave you changed.
The legend is ancient, but the experience is timeless. From the moment you step into the Indochine Lounge at Tuan Chau Port – a quiet enclave away from the ferry chaos – you feel the bay calling. A cool towel, a whisper of lemongrass. Your name checked, your luggage tagged. Then the boat: lacquer paintings glow on wooden panels, the scent of polished teak and sea salt fills the air. A welcome drink is pressed into your hand – honeyed, cold, perfect. The journey begins.
11:30 AM – The Lounge at Tuan Chau Port
You arrive at the Indochine Lounge, a quiet enclave away from the ferry chaos. A cool towel, a whisper of lemongrass. Your name is checked, your luggage tagged. Already, you feel the bay calling.
Noon – Boarding
The moment you step onto Indochine Premium, time slows. Lacquer paintings glow on wooden panels. The scent of polished teak and sea salt fills the air. A welcome drink is pressed into your hand – honeyed, cold, perfect.
1:15 PM – Lunch as the Islands Parade By
The buffet unfolds: plump spring rolls, caramelised pork, herbs you cannot name but will crave tomorrow. You eat while limestone giants drift past your window. Incense Burner Rock. Kissing Rock. The guide whispers legends between courses.
2:30 PM – Luon Cave, Where Water Turns Jade
A small boat or a two‑person kayak – you choose. The entrance is a low arch, barely visible. Then you slip inside. The lagoon opens like a hidden eye: emerald water, vertical walls draped in ferns, silence broken only by paddle drips. Monkeys watch from above. You are not a tourist here. You are an explorer.
4:00 PM – Surprise Cave (or Me Cung – the Maze)
Up a hundred stone steps, through a crevice, and suddenly – a cathedral of stone. Stalactites drip from a ceiling fifty metres high. Lights paint the chambers in amber and gold. The guide points out a sleeping lion, a Buddha, a wedding cake frozen in rock. Surprise indeed.
5:30 PM – Golden Hour on the Sundeck
The ship anchors. The sun begins its slow melt. You stretch out on a lounger, dip your feet in the Jacuzzi, or challenge a stranger to mini‑golf. The sky turns apricot, then rose, then violet. A photographer’s dream. A poet’s ruin.
6:30 PM – The Head Chef’s Secret
Tonight, you learn to carve a tomato into a rose. Or roll a summer roll so tight it holds the sea inside. The cooking class is part lesson, part performance – and entirely delicious.
7:30 PM – Dinner by Candlelight
The restaurant transforms. White linen, soft jazz, a five‑course feast. Seared scallops, beef in red wine, a delicate crème brûlée. The wine list is deep. The conversation flows. Outside, the bay is ink and silver.
8:30 PM – Squid Fishing Under the Stars
A bamboo rod, a glowing lure, and patience. The water is black velvet. Tiny phosphorescent creatures sparkle with each ripple. You may catch a squid. You will definitely catch a memory.
10:30 PM – Your Balcony Cabin Awaits
The bed is cloud‑soft. The balcony door cracked open to hear the lapping waves. Tomorrow, another adventure.
6:30 AM – Tai Chi with the Mist
You join a dozen others on the sundeck, moving in slow motion as the sun spills gold over the karsts. No experience needed. Just breath, balance, and bay.
7:45 AM – Breakfast on the Water
Pho, fresh fruit, crusty baguettes. Coffee so strong it wakes your soul.
8:15 AM – The Local Boat Transfer
Today, you trade luxury for authenticity. A traditional wooden boat – the kind fishermen have used for centuries – carries you toward Lan Ha Bay, Halong’s quieter twin. You swim in water as warm as a bath. You kayak through floating fishing villages. You walk a village path where children wave and elders mend nets. Your guide translates smiles. A grandmother offers you a ripe dragon fruit. This is not a performance. This is life.
12:00 PM – Lunch Aboard the Local Boat
Grilled fish, morning glory stir‑fry, rice steamed in banana leaves. No silverware – just fingers and joy.
3:25 PM – Back to the Mother Ship
You reboard Indochine Premium near Titov Island, tired and happy. A shower, a cold towel, and a nap on your balcony.
6:30 PM – Another Cooking Lesson, Another Laugh
Tonight, the chef shows you how to carve a watermelon into a phoenix. You try. You fail. You laugh.
7:30 PM – Gala Dinner
The second night’s dinner feels like a celebration. The crew sings a Vietnamese farewell song. You clap along, knowing you will miss this.
8:30 PM – One Last Night of Squid Fishing
Or simply sit on the bow, watching the stars multiply.
6:00 AM – Pastries and Coffee
A light breakfast – just enough to wake you before the climb.
6:30 AM – Tai Chi, One Last Time
Your body remembers the movements now. The bay is still. You feel peaceful.
7:45 AM – Titov Island
You have a choice: swim in the turquoise cove or climb 427 steps to the summit. Take the climb. At the top, the view will steal your breath – a panorama of Halong Bay that postcards cannot capture. You stay for ten minutes. You wish for ten hours.
9:00 AM – Check‑out, Bittersweet
You pack slowly. Leave your luggage outside. Take one last photo from your balcony.
9:30 AM – Brunch as We Sail Home
A final feast: omelettes, pastries, noodle soup, fruit. You settle your bill. You exchange emails with new friends.
11:00 AM – Back at Tuan Chau Port
The crew waves from the dock. You wave back. The bay shrinks in the rearview mirror. But it will never leave you.
The 3‑day journey adds a full day exploring Lan Ha Bay and floating fishing villages by local boat, plus an extra night on board. You also get a second cooking class, a gala dinner, and more time for relaxation. Both include all meals, cave tours, kayaking, and Titov Island.
Yes, children are welcome. The cruise offers family-friendly activities (kayaking, squid fishing, cooking class). Children under 5 stay free (sharing bed with parents). A separate children’s menu is available on request.
More than 30 days before departure: free cancellation. 30–14 days: 10% fee. Less than 14 days: 100% charge (but we will try to move your date). If the bay management closes the bay due to bad weather, you receive a new date or full refund.
Indochine Chic can arrange private transfers (2.5 hours) for an additional fee. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle bus (bookable through the cruise). Pickup from your Hanoi hotel is typically between 7:30–8:00 AM for the 2‑day cruise.
Yes, complimentary Wi‑Fi is available in the restaurant and lounge areas. However, due to the limestone karsts, the signal can be intermittent. We recommend disconnecting and enjoying the bay.
Light clothing, swimsuit, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a light jacket for the evening, comfortable walking shoes (for caves and Titov Island), and a camera. Dress for dinner is smart casual.
Yes. The spa offers traditional Vietnamese massages, body scrubs, and facials. Prices are reasonable (from $30). Book at the reception desk – slots fill quickly.
“Some journeys are just trips. This one is a story you will tell for years. The way the light hit the stalactites. The old fisherman who smiled at you. The taste of pho at sunrise.” — Indochine Chic
