The Conductor’s Vision
Q4 2028 · COMMERCIAL LAUNCH
HO CHI MINH CITY – CẦN GIỜ
A 54km Arc from Bến Thành to the Sea
Approved as a strategic urban artery, the Ho Chi Minh City – Cần Giờ urban railway stretches 54 kilometers, with a maximum design speed of 350 km/h. The starting point at Bến Thành nods to the city’s heritage, while the terminus at Vinhomes Green Paradise Cần Giờ opens a gateway to one of Vietnam’s most pristine coastal landscapes — a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve of tangled mangroves, winding rivers, and rare primate species. Ground was ceremonially broken on December 19, 2025, and authorities now confirm the target: commercial operation by the final quarter of 2028.

DESIGN POETRY
NHA RỒNG – NGUYỄN VĂN LINH
Subterranean Passage, Elevated Horizons
The line’s choreography respects the city’s layered identity. Near the historic Nhà Rồng – Khánh Hội wharf, the tracks will slip underground, preserving the riverfront’s visual poetry. The transition back to elevated track occurs near Nguyễn Văn Linh Boulevard, where a thoughtfully placed station will serve as a nexus between the subterranean and the sky. This design ensures that the journey is not merely swift but also visually cohesive — a seamless glide from the urban core into the emerald periphery.

SYMPHONY OF PROJECTS
REGIONAL MOMENTUM
A City in Concert: Rạch Chiếc, Bình Quới – Thanh Đa & Cần Giờ Reclamation
The railway does not travel alone. It is one movement in a larger symphony. Concurrently, Ho Chi Minh City is advancing the Rạch Chiếc Sports Complex, the Bình Quới – Thanh Đa new urban area, and the ambitious Cần Giờ sea reclamation urban project. Phó Chủ tịch UBND TP.HCM Hoàng Nguyên Dinh has emphasized the necessity of synchronized execution — overlapping procedures, tightened coordination — to ensure that when the railway opens, it integrates into a fully evolved metropolitan landscape. For the traveler, this means arriving not to a construction site, but to a destination that has matured in lockstep with its infrastructure.

“By 2028, the rhythm of the city will race to the mangroves. A 350km/h journey from the heart of Saigon to the edge of the sea — where Indochine’s legacy meets tomorrow’s horizon.”

ECONOMIC RIPPLE
TRADE · TOURISM · REAL ESTATE
A New Current for Maritime Commerce & Coastal Luxury
Beyond movement, the railway promises transformation. Officials project that the line will catalyze trade flows, elevate tourism along the Southern coast, and become a backbone for maritime economic expansion. For the discerning traveler, this means new possibilities: a morning spent in the galleries of District 1, an afternoon exploring Cần Giờ’s mangrove forests by boat, and a sunset return to the city — all without traffic, all within an hour. The 2028 debut is positioned as the dawn of a new era for Vietnam’s national rail identity.

TRAVEL INTELLIGENCE
Arriving with Intention
For those planning a visit coinciding with the opening, the recommended approach is one of fluidity. The line will connect directly to the existing metro network at Bến Thành, offering seamless transfers from Tân Sơn Nhất airport via future urban rail links. Cần Giờ itself is evolving: eco-lodges, boutique resorts, and riverfront dining are already taking shape in anticipation of the railway’s arrival. Travelers should note that the final alignment, including station names and exact schedules, will be confirmed in early 2028. But the direction is clear — Saigon is reaching for its coastline with elegance and speed.
