Cao Dai Holy See – A unique fusion religion

Founded: 1926, Tay Ninh province. Cao Dai (meaning “High Place” or “Highest Power”) blends elements of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity, and Islam, with saints including Victor Hugo, Joan of Arc, and Sun Yat-sen .

Architecture: The Great Temple is a riot of color – pink and yellow walls, dragon columns, and a celestial eye (divine symbol) at the altar .

Ceremony schedule: Daily at 6am, noon, 6pm, midnight. The noon ceremony is the main event for tourists – arrive by 11am for good seats .

Entrance: Free (donations appreciated).

Cu Chi Tunnels – Underground warriors

History: Over 250km of tunnels, used by Viet Cong during the Vietnam War for communication, supply routes, hospitals, and living quarters. The area was heavily bombed, and the tunnel systems were a key factor in the war .

Ben Dinh vs Ben Duoc: Ben Dinh is closer to HCMC and more tourist-friendly (widened tunnels, shooting range), while Ben Duoc is more authentic with preserved tunnels and less commercial .

Entrance fees: Ben Dinh ~110k VND, Ben Duoc ~90k VND (tours extra). Shooting range: bullets ~30-50k VND each .

What to expect: Crawling in tunnels is optional; some sections are widened for tourists. You’ll see trap doors, hidden kitchens, and learn about guerrilla tactics.
